Questions and answers about Digipost for businesses
Frequently asked questions
-
Digipost is a digital postal system developed by Posten Bring AS, providing residents and businesses access to their own digital mailbox. Since all users in the system have confirmed their identity, you can be sure that the person sending or receiving a letter is the correct one.
In Digipost, you can send all types of letters that were previously sent physically as paper mail, as well as deliveries that, due to security requirements or formalities, are unsuitable for regular email. Examples include agreement documents, pay slips, invoices, annual statements, health records, account statements, PIN codes, and applications. These are excellent examples of mail that is naturally sent or received as secure digital post.
You can send both digital letters and paper mail via Digipost.
-
It is free to receive mail in Digipost, for both individuals and businesses. Mail sent from business accounts is priced based on quantity and size.
The cost of sending paper mail through Digipost includes printing, envelope stuffing, and delivery via regular mail.
The cost of sending digital mail is significantly lower than traditional postage, allowing your business to save up to 80% compared to regular mailing costs.
View the price list at digipost.no/business/prices.
When Digipost launches new additional services, they will be priced according to separate price lists.

You can send letters to individuals, public organizations, and businesses with a Digipost account, provided the recipient wishes to receive digital mail. You can also select multiple recipients per letter and create contact lists that can be reused the next time you want to send letters to the same recipients.
You can send most file types digitally. Letters that are to be delivered as paper mail must be in PDF format for correct printing. See technical information for details.
Log in from a computer to send digital letters via Digipost. It is not possible to send letters from tablets, mobile devices, or the Digipost apps.
How to send a letter:
- Click on New Message in the left menu.
- Use the To field to search for digital recipients by name, address, city, or Digipost address. If you want to send the letter as paper mail, select Add postal address.
- Enter the desired title for the letter in the Subject field. Letters delivered via Digipost will be notified and displayed with the subject line you choose. Letters sent as paper mail will not have a subject line.
- Choose whether to write the letter directly in Digipost, upload prepared files, or combine prepared files and text written directly in the platform.
- You can send a maximum of 30 MB per letter, divided among up to 200 files. To add files, you can drag and drop them into Digipost, or click the Select Files button. The first file you upload becomes the main document of the letter, while the rest are attachments. If you write content in Digipost, the text becomes the main document, and any uploaded files become attachments.
If you cannot find the intended recipient, it may be because they do not wish to be publicly searchable or have not yet registered in Digipost. They may also have deactivated their mailbox to only send outgoing digital mail.
Mail sent via Digipost is invoiced accordingly.

You can opt-out of your business being searchable in the Mail Reception section under Settings, which you can access when logged in to Digipost.
